Manatees are endangered marine mammals and can be found throughout the coastal waters and rivers of Florida. Threats to their survival include boat strikes, entanglement in fishing line and debris, crushing in flood control structures and locks, cold stress and loss of habitat.
The waters of highly urbanized southeast Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties) are especially important to manatees and offer natural warm water refuge to manatees during the winter.
You can help to protect and preserve manatees and their southeast Florida habitat. Learn more by exploring our website. Please donate to support our manatee research and conservation efforts.
